Our University and Faculty are guided by laws and ethics; it is therefore imperative that Pharmacy Students should carefully read all regulations guiding your stay in the faculty from this handbook. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with these rules and regulations and abide by them in order to have a pleasant and smooth stay in the University. The ultimate objective of this handbook is for our students to be fully guided as to the nature, philosophy and objectives of the faculty. You will find information about admission requirements and details of the academic courses you have to undertake during your stay in the university.
I sincerely hope Students of the Faculty will use their knowledge of pharmacy they will acquire to advance healthcare services at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of healthcare delivery at both public and private healthcare sectors in Nigeria in particular and the world at large.

The former Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Barnabas William Qurix, OFR, FNIA inaugurated the Committee constituted to oversee the takeoff of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University on February 13, 2012, at the University’s Senate Chamber. The Committee was made up of Dr. Ahmed T. Mora, mni as Chairman, with Prof. M. Garba, Dr. (Mrs.) S. Allagh, Prof. M.S Abubakar and Pharm. Yohanna A. Gaiya as members. Barr. Abdullahi Zubair Abdullahi of the Vice-Chancellor’s office served as the Secretary of the Committee. The Committee was given three (3) months by the Vice-Chancellor to submit its Report. The Report of the Committee was submitted to the Vice-Chancellor on May 14, 2012, at the Senate Chamber with a strong recommendation on the viability and indeed the necessity of a Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences to train the much-needed Pharmacists for the State and the Nation’s Healthcare Institutions.
The Committee proposed the establishment of Seven (7) Departments but starting with Five (5) Departments in the new Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at takeoff as listed below.
The faculty will for now concentrate on the B.Pharm Degree as an unclassified degree in line with the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard (BMAS) of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the directives of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
Teaching started on the 28th day of January 2013 for the pioneer B. Pharm 100 Level students admitted during the 2012/2013 Academic Session.
